Handmade quilt by women in San Pedro Sula, Honduras

Description

Xiomara's journey is truly inspiring. Through her skillful quilting, she has not only created a stunning piece of art but also transformed her living conditions and improved the quality of life for herself and her daughter.

This gorgeous quilt, crafted with meticulous care by Xiomara, showcases Grandmothers Garden With Triple Outline Hexagon Design and is beautiful in blues, greens, teals and whites. This quilt, Emerald Sea, demonstrates Xiomara's dedication and talent as a quilter, creating a piece that is both visually striking and cozy.

Xiomara's motivation to create these quilts goes beyond her passion for the craft. She uses her sewing skills as a means to support her daughter and provide a better life for both of them. Living in poverty, Xiomara has faced numerous challenges, but she has found strength and determination to overcome them.

Thanks to her hard work and the income she earns from her quilting, Xiomara has been able to make significant improvements to her home. With a new roof, walls, and floor, her living conditions have greatly improved. Access to running water, electricity, and a new toilet are essential amenities that contribute to a more comfortable and dignified life.
