We have so many women who could use the luxury of having a stove top and oven in their homes. By having a stove it will eliminate their need to cook on an open flame. Many of our makers cook on an open flame in their home which is terrible for the health and safety of their children. Those who decide to cook outside are at security risk when they are cooking alone or at night.
The slums of San Pedro Sula are some of the most dangerous areas in the world that are not in a war zone. Due to the location of Honduras being so close to the equator makes the sun set year round between 5:30-6:00 pm That means it is dark very early everyday and being outside after dark in the slums can be very very dangerous. So there are many reasons we desire to provide stoves for Teresa and other Makers.
Teresa is such a cute tiny Maker. Due to a lack of nutrition as a child she suffers from stunted growth. She is a tiny 4'8" woman who is trying to make healthy meals for her daughter Nohemy so she doesn't suffer the same fate. A stove is very important for this process.
A stove is about $150 and the gas tank to operate it is about $50.
Any donations made over this amount will go to buying a stove for another Maker.
