Meet Teresa, one of our smallest but mightiest Makers. She has a heart full of warmth and hands that create beautiful, intricate quilts, like her latest masterpiece, Lilypad. Through her time with One Common Thread, Teresa has honed her sewing skills, and her dedication shines through in every stitch.
Teresa is a mother to a miracle baby—a little girl she never expected to have. Due to malnutrition as a child, Teresa’s growth was stunted, and she was told she would likely never have children. But against all odds, she was blessed with her daughter, and today, she works tirelessly to support and care for her through the income she earns from sewing.
With the funds from her handcrafted pieces, Teresa has been able to make life-changing improvements to her home. She recently installed a new roof and put in cement flooring in her kitchen and bathroom—transformations that have made her home safer and more comfortable. When her daughter falls ill, Teresa now has the means to buy necessary medications, an unimaginable relief for any mother.
Beyond her sewing talents, Teresa is meticulous in everything she does. She keeps her home spotless, with great attention to detail—a quality that extends into her artistry. Her home is also a reflection of her vibrant spirit, painted in bright, beautiful colors, not only for aesthetics but also as a natural way to repel insects that often nest in wooden homes.
