Handmade quilt by women in San Pedro Sula, Honduras
Description
Before discovering her talent for sewing, Nohemy lived in a heartbreaking reality. Trapped in an abusive relationship, she was given just $4 a week to feed her three children—that was the extent of her partner’s support. Every day was a battle for survival, with little hope for change.
But Nohemy refused to let that be her story. When she found One Common Thread, she found more than just work—she found freedom. With every stitch, she began to rebuild her life. Through her dedication and talent, Nohemy has completely transformed her future. She made the courageous decision to leave her abusive partner and create a safe, stable home for herself and her children.
Today, thanks to the income she has earned through her incredible sewing and artistry, Nohemy owns her own home—a place where her family is secure. One of her proudest achievements was building a bathroom inside their home, ensuring her 12-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son no longer have to risk their safety using a communal toilet.
Nohemy’s journey is one of resilience, hope, and the power of opportunity. Through her work, she is not just creating stunning, hand-sewn art—she is sewing together the pieces of a brighter, safer, and more independent life for herself and her children.
Every purchase of her work is a celebration of her strength, her artistry, and the incredible future she is building. 💛✨
