Handmade quilt by women in San Pedro Sula, Honduras
Description
This quilt is a Diamond design, and sewn so well by one of our college student Makers in our group named Irma. Irma is an amazing young woman who has a high school certificate and currently lives in a one room house that she shares with her grandmother and her uncle who is deaf and mute.
On our visit to Honduras in the summer of 2023 we discussed with Irma the possibility of her attending Honduras College and she showed a lot of interest, and now she has been attending for the last year and a half. She is majoring in banking and finances. We are hoping we can help her with her goals to truly make a jump out of the the slums. Having a high school certificate, not being in a relationship, and not having any children is very irregular for women from the slums. We are praying that Irma can make this transition smoothly and in turn help her grandmother and uncle.
