Sharing One Common Thread at the MOKA Quilt Study Group

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to attend and speak at the MOKA Quilt Study Group in Leavenworth, Kansas. It was such a meaningful experience to be able to share more about the work we are doing through One Common Thread.

I was honored to speak with the group about the work we are doing in Honduras through One Common Thread. This group actually sponsored my trip to Kansas. During my presentation, I was able to introduce so many women to the realities faced by mothers living in poverty, women who are working tirelessly to create better lives for their children with the opportunities they’ve been given.

I was also able to share how these handmade hexagon quilts are created and how they have become a way for women to earn income from home while caring for their families. While the quilts themselves are beautiful, it is really the story behind the hexagon quilts that connects.

Speaking about this work never feels difficult to me because I am so passionate about our makers and the lives they are building. Their resilience, determination, and hope make it easy to stand up and share their stories. I feel incredibly grateful for every opportunity to help others see what is possible when women are given the chance to work, grow, and thrive.

If you are part of a group that would be interested in learning more about One Common Thread and the impact of this work, I would truly love to come and speak. Sharing these stories and connecting others to this mission is one of the most meaningful parts of what I do.
