Happy Honduras šš³ National Womenās Day! I am so grateful to have gotten to know these beautiful women! āFeliz dia mujer Divina valiente guerrera y bendecida porque te levantas cada dia con mucha fe y llevas una vida con valor y fortaleza.ā
]]>There is something about this baby quilt that says āSk8er Boiā. I feel like I should keep it since my daughter married a skater boy 3 weeks ago, and a baby skater could be in the near future. (No worries they arenāt there yet!) But I think this baby quilt is just adorable!!
]]>āThe artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider's web.ā
Pablo Picasso
āWhatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.ā Martin Luther King Jr. By helping support these women you truly can make the world a better place for more people than you can even imagine! Happy MLK Day!
]]>This sunrise quilt is a perfect way to express the weather and joyous color of this beautiful culture.
]]>Isnāt this quilt gorgeous?!?! Iām so in love!! Also we had two birthdays yesterday! Sweet little Natalie turned 13 and Her Aunt Juli! Happy birthday to them and for all these wonderful memories we are making in the bordo!
]]>āI am a quilter myself and I love making things from scraps. There is something so satisfying about using every last leftover and turning it into something beautiful.ā Brittney is a wonderful supporter of One Common Thread and purchased one of Jocelin, and Maribels quilts. She had come to Honduras in November with fabric to donate and once she met these beautiful ladies, in their homes, she wanted to have a quilt to take home. She bought this one because she wanted to give it to her daughter for Christmas as a momento of their trip to Honduras and is also her daughters high school colors!
]]>My beautiful daughter Bailey got married yesterday to her love Taylor Sulzen. ā¤ļø I started this quilt in September 2017 and it was the quilt that inspired One Common Thread. I wanted to start a tradition by giving all of my children a handmade quilt on their wedding day. (Iām stealing the phrase ābaby making quiltā from Sandra Bullockās movie The Proposal!) I was 15 months into this quilt when I hired sweet Skarleth to make some hexis to advance the process. From there quilt kits were made and now some of our finished quilts and wall hangings. This got the ball rolling! Iām@so grateful for new challenges and triumphs for 2020! Please buy a quilt today and start making memories. Traditions are important, and take time and effort. Make a quilt today!! Happy New Year!!!
]]>"I love my quilt! I cried again when I opened it this morning. A quilt that is truly stitched with love. Please let the sweet ladies know that I pray for them and love them even though weāve never met. I feel and cherish a connection to them through this quilt. It brings a smile to my face.šā. Thanks Paula for supporting these wonderful women. Merry Christmas yāall!!!
]]>I have to post about this amazing lady! Heather is so giving and thoughtful and Venmoās me weekly $10 for the people in Honduras. What do I do with that $10? I usually buy powdered milk for the children and since Iām at the store buying Heathers milk for the kids, I usually spend a little more to buy even more milk for more kids. What Iām saying is that she motivates me to do even more. I love her and her compassion. Thank you for your quiet support of these amazing people.
]]>Madeline is one of the women who sews our beautiful quilts and this last Wednesday she had her baby! š¼ Iām so proud of her and we are so grateful that little baby Bereth Alondra made it safe and sound. Iāve been in Madeleineās home many times, but there was something so sacred when I went to meet baby Bereth. My experience meeting Madelineās new baby this time of year reminded me of our Savior who was laid in a manger in the most humble of births. Merry Christmas everyone! Or better yet Feliz Navidad!
]]>These scrap quilts are amazing. I am always impressed by the ladies hard work. Here we have Dalhia, Juli and Wendy who put together this quilt with so many complimentary colors. It isnāt perfect but I think itās a great example how our lives arenāt perfect, but with grace, love and dignity we can take it all in and make something beautiful.

]]>This is Madeline. She is 16 years old, and she is scheduled to give birth on December 16. Her story is complicated and full of twists, turns and unexpected destinations, just like all of us. She works for One Common Thread trying to make $ for her babyās expenses. She is grateful for all of your support! Donate today

]]>So fun to have our first real quilt sell! We havenāt had a chance to even post these on our website because they are all still down her in Honduras but this sweet gal here donating her time with Smiles for Latin America bought this quilt and it just so happened one of our ladies, Jocelin, who sewed this quilt, was cleaning the church so i had to get a photo. Was it really a coincidence that we would all come to be a the same spot for this transaction? I think not! God is in the background orchestrating all of these wonderful moments. I just feel so blessed I get to see the giver and receiver met face to face.
]]>Here are just a few family pictures we took of our ladies and their families by their homes in the slums. As our relationship grows closer Iāve realized so many of them did not have any family photos. Some had a few blurry ones taken on old phones but no one had anything framed to be displayed. Since at One Common Thread we aim to empower the women, so they can then strengthen their families, we thought taking family portraits would be a great reminder of what this work is all about. Our stories are so similar no matter where we live. Thatās the one common thread that knits us all together and reminds us what a small world we live in. Many of you have shared great ideas, sent fabric, and have donated to our Venmo @onecommonthread or purchased from our Etsy. Store (link in bio) Please continue to do those things and most of all share our stories with others through social media, friends, & others you think would want to help. We will have some new ready made items and some smaller baby blanket flannel quilts coming out in the next week or so, so stay tuned. All I can say is that your help has truly aided these amazing people. And they are inspiring each other to work harder, for the men to find more work and for them all to see hope. Hope and love can truly change people. Thank you for the hope and love youāve shared with us!! Letās keep moving forward!!!
]]>One of my favorite things about these quilt kits is how I can take them anywhere and use my wait times to accomplish something! Here a little, there a little and in the end I know Iāll have a master piece!
]]>Above anything, this project is a LOVE fest. Centuries of traditions include women working, laughing and sharing together while their hands are busy. The friendships built through this project will last a lifetime. So, gather with your mothers, sisters, daughters and girlfriends and make something beautiful. .

Iāll admit sewing at the beach may be giving me a funky tan line but Iām addicted! This quilt kit is just so easy to bring along and work on whenever Iāve got idle hands!
]]>I really love these sweet women and their children stole my heart a long time ago!!ā¤ļø
]]>This is my little friend Yessica. Her mother works for us at O.C.T. Sheās an amazing 12 year old doing her homework just across the street from her home. #settingastandard #allgodschildren
]]>Three sisters and a cousin. Some of my favorite kids in the bordo. I had the chance to visit with them while checking on their aunties work! No school since they are celebrating Honduras Independence Day!
]]>The women that are building One Common Thread live in homes that arenāt so beautiful but inside of them they are creating beautiful works of art.
]]>Courtney with some of the women she works with. Again, another ātesterā that the women used our kits to sew this one-of-a-kind quilt. PS. Thank you to all the individuals that donate their beautiful fabric to improve the lives of these women.
]]>Let me introduce you to some of the women we employ that make our fabric hexagons. Meet Karol. Karol is the oldest of her family. She is 18 and her job is to stay at home all day to take care of her younger eight brothers and sisters. Two of her siblings are just one and two years old! Karol dedicates her whole life to her siblings while her dad works full-time. With the help of her Aunts, she cooks and cleans her little house and stays up with the babies if they are sick or canāt sleep. She is always busy but still manages to get the kids to church on Sundays. Recently, Courtney brought her a pair of Flojo flip-flops and she was so excited to have a new pair of shoes!
]]>Here, Courtney is showing the women how to assemble the hexagons from the quilt kits. Quilting is a huge love of Courtneyās and she loves sharing one of her MANY talents with them.
]]>Here are a few of our ātester quiltsā that Courtney had the women not only sew the hexagons on individually, but she also had them assemble the kits so they could actually understand how the hexagons worked together using the different patterns. They love that what they are doing comes together looking like these. So fun to show them.#patternmaking
