Citrus Sunshine is a beautiful design made by our sweet Makers Maribel and her daughter Diana.
Maribel is 36 years old and recently welcomed her fifth child, a beautiful baby girl! She has spent much of her life caring for her children and home and has a sixth-grade education. Through her work with One Common Thread, Maribel has been able to earn an income while continuing to care for her family. With additional funds from One Common Thread, she was also able to reroof her home, an improvement that has brought her tremendous happiness and security, especially during San Pedro Sula’s heavy tropical rains.
One of the sweetest parts of Maribel’s story is that sewing has now become something she shares with her oldest daughter, Diana. Diana recently had a baby girl of her own around the same time Maribel welcomed her newest daughter, making these two little girls aunt and niece and nearly the same age! Diana now sews alongside her mother and also makes and sells tortillas to earn additional income to support her own little family. We love seeing generations of women working together, learning from one another, and finding ways to provide for their children.
