Blessings of Christmas, A Finished Quilt

This beautifully huge throw quilt is sure to be a Christmas heirloom and is a gorgeous work of art.  It was made by our Maker Yenci and her sister Mariela.  Yenci, at 35 years-old, is a dedicated mother of two children. As one of the newer Makers, she brings her sewing skills and passion to contribute to One Common Thread. Although she is not new to sewing, this opportunity has provided her with a stable income and a sense of fulfillment.

Yenci's common law relationship, while not legally married, has been a significant part of her life. Her partner currently faces unemployment due to the lack of available work opportunities. This situation has brought challenges to their household, making it even more crucial for Yenci to secure employment and provide for her family's needs.

Yenci has a daughter named Maluvi who was born with crossed eyes. She has been receiving treatment and we are anxiously excited for her upcoming surgery to fix her eyes. This is all made possible with donations to One Common Thread on the behalf of Maluvi.

The other Maker Mariela is a mother of one young son and splits her time between sewing and working construction.  She is always up for a challenge and works hard to support her family.

Materials: high-quality thread, cotton fabrics for quilt top, minky or velvet fabric backing.
