Handmade quilt by women in San Pedro Sula, Honduras

Description

Many quilters and makers here in the US have asked for more unfinished quilt tops to finish off themselves and so we have more available now!

This gorgeous grandmas garden quilt was made by our two very first Makers, Skarleth and her mother Juli.  Skarleth just graduated from the 11th grade which ends the high school education for Hondurans.  She is now looking at attending an English immersion program.  Juli is her mother and she has two other children.  Giovanni is 6 years-old and her son Christian who passed many years ago.

Juli and Skarleth had to flee her home in the slums of San Pedro Sula about 2 years ago when Co-vid started and the police stopped entering their slum.  The gangs in that slum became so powerful that they had to flee for their lives.  They are now resettled in home outside of the city and they are grateful they are still close enough to sew with One Common Thread.

This quilt top is made using our grandmas garden design in beautiful jewel tone colors. The last photo is of the back of the quilt top.

Materials: high-quality thread, cotton fabrics for quilt top
Dimensions: 40" x 42"
