Handmade quilt by women in San Pedro Sula, Honduras
This quilt is a classic design and sewn so well by one of our most recent Makers that have joined our group named Irma. Irma is an amazing young woman who has a high school certificate and currently lives in a one room house that she shares with her grandmother and her uncle who is deaf and mute.
On our last visit to Honduras we discussed with Irma the possibility of her attending Honduras College and she showed a lot of interest. She would like to go into either banking and finances or graphic design. We are hoping we can help her with her goals to truly make a jump out of the the slums. Having a high school certificate, not being in a relationship and not having any children is very irregular for women from the slums. We are praying that Irma can make this transition smoothly and in turn help her grandmother and uncle.
