Handmade quilt by women in San Pedro Sula, Honduras
Description
This baby girl quilt is absolutely gorgeous. We love the color combination that Mariana used to complete this quilt. Mariana is a mother of one of our Makers that started off just by helping her daughter but has enjoyed having the extra money to help her large family of 11! Mariana is the mother of 9 with lots of grown children but still has 5 at home and also takes care of her 73 year old mother.
In our recent visit to her home in the bordo we noticed her house was by far the most desperate. She has no cement floors and most of her roof is falling over and leaking. She has also taken in two other children who do not have parents and lets them sleep in a lean to behind her home. We have lots of plans for improving Mariana's circumstance even though her time for sewing is limited.
