Handmade quilt by women in San Pedro Sula, Honduras
Description
Marta is such an amazing person and she made this fun snowflake patterned quilt, made out of Christmas fabrics. We first met Marta as we were walking through the slums and spotted her sewing in her home. We didn't recognize her so we introduced ourselves and found out she was sewing in "secret" by helping a friend who already sewed for One Common Thread. She was so dear that we had to get her all signed up right away with a bank account of her own and projects of her own.
Marta has enjoyed working and recently purchased a refrigerator. With that she started a frozen chocolate banana stand from her home that she is able to make a small profit selling to the children in the slums. Marta is 37 years-old and the mother of three children.
