Handmade quilt by women in San Pedro Sula, Honduras
This is an absolute work of art. This quilt was made by Belkis, and sisters Fanny and Mariam. These three work very hard together and produce such gorgeous quilts. Belkis is 32 and is a mother of three beautiful girls ages 10, 8, and 6. Fanny is 20 and the mother of one son, and Mariam is is 19 and does not have any children. These three were sitting around a school desk sitting in a broken wheelchair when they first started sewing. Once we saw their conditions we swapped out their table for one that was bigger and bought them all chairs so they could work.
This quilt has been put together so beautifully and truly is a work of art. It is very large and will be a gorgeous addition to any home. It will also help support these women as they strive to feed their families, keep their kids in school and work towards a better tomorrow.
