Handmade quilt by women in San Pedro Sula, Honduras
Description
Neidy's large quilt queen sized grandma's garden mattress topper is called Collins' Dream. (Yes I named this one after my daughter who's dream would be to never make a bed again!) This quilt is our very first and our only fitted quilt. It has the grandma's garden design o the top made by Neidy and then it has a stretchy white fabric along the sides so it fits snuggly on top of a queen size mattress. It is great for the guest room that you want to always look its best. This mattress topper showcases Neidy's talent and dedication as a maker. Her role as a mother of three highlights her commitment to providing for her family and creating a better life for them.
Being part of a community of makers and having sisters who share her passion for sewing creates a supportive environment for Neidy. The bond with her fellow makers fosters a sense of camaraderie and encourages her to continue honing her craft.
In addition to her sewing work, Neidy also manages a "tienda" store at the front of her home. This entrepreneurial spirit reflects her resourcefulness and determination to generate additional income for her family. Selling chips, drinks, and small candies to others in the bordo not only serves as a source of revenue but also strengthens the community ties.
Neidy's story is an inspiring example of resilience and determination. Her work as a maker and entrepreneur showcases her strength and her desire to provide a better life for her family. Neidy's commitment to sewing and running her tienda demonstrates the positive impact she makes in her community while finding fulfillment in her work.
