Handmade quilt by women in San Pedro Sula, Honduras

Description

This quilt top Blue Grandma's Garden, was made by our 18-year-old single mother, Nany. Nany lived with her mother who was a quadriplegic and so she had been her caregiver. Sadly, her mother passed away in October 2022 and now Nany is on her own. She also just gave birth to her second daughter Allison. Her daughter Lizeth is almost 3 and is just about the cutest and chubbiest little gal, and that is thanks to the money Nany earns sewing for One Common Thread.

The first change among the children in the slums, when their mothers start sewing, is that they come to life. It is amazing to see these malnourished children get the food they need and literally awaken. Nany is grateful to sew for OCT because that enables her to take care of her daughter and her new little baby girl.

Materials: high-quality thread, cotton fabrics for quilt top
