Handmade quilt by women in San Pedro Sula, Honduras

Description

Autumn Flowers was made by Juli and her 16 year old daughter Skarleth.  Skarleth is the original Maker of One Common Thread when she asked as a 13- year- old for a way to make some money.  From that first experience, her mother, aunts and cousins all began asking if they could make hexagons as well.

Juli is Skarleth's mother and the mother of a 6 year old boy Giovanni.  They had to flee their home in July 2020 when gangs became so violent in their slum and threatened to kill Juli and her son and sell Skarleth into sex trafficking.  They are both grateful to have the opportunity to work and provide food and basic necessities.
