Handmade baby quilt by women in San Pedro Sula, Honduras

Description
One of our more experienced Makers, made this quilt called Van Gogh.  This quilt is made in Van Gogh’s Starry Night design.  This design is very difficult quilt and made by one of our most experienced Makers Delia.

Delia is 40-years-old and is an amazingly hard worker.  There is never a time I don't see her with a needle, thread and hexagon in her hand. She has taken full advantage of the opportunity to make money from home. Delia is one of the few of our makers that was able to keep her home in the Bordo after the threats of the gangs. She lives right off of the river in the Pedregal Bordo (slum).

after the threats of the gangs when any police presence vanished during the pandemic.

Delia lives right off of the river in the Pedregal bordo. She used to use the river to clean her clothes and do all of her cooking outdoors. However, since she has been sewing now for 5 years with One Common Thread she now has water piped In from the river so she can wash her clothing In her own home over a sink (pila) and she has an oven so she doesn't have to cook her food over an open flame.

Delia is the mother of one boy and one girl. Both of her children are grown but both have given her some grandchildren to enjoy. Her daughter Nancy lives close by and helps her sew daily. Sadly, Delia is suffering from some health issues with tumors but she is so grateful for her association with One Common Thread so we can make sure she gets the medical tests and attention she needs.
